Eleven booked in today so lots of room peg 25 came out of the bag which is a good draw.
I started the match fishing 13 meters feeding bits of corn and pellet and started to get bites straight away then into my first carp of about 3lb the wind got up so I lengthened my line to stop the pole blowing the float out of the water which worked great until the wind got so strong I had to abandon it.
Out went the lead and another carp hit the net then nothing no body was catching so I looked at the pole line again when the wind allowed me and had another carp as the day went on I had odd carp on the lead chucking it on my pole line and over to the island I ended up with 7 carp to win with 40.10oz second was 21.00 lb thank you once again to Terry Bolton for a well run match and a pleasant day.
Well done to Derek Higgs for catching some nice silvers and taking lordys pound!!
Windmill fishery is fishing well with lots of bites on soft pellets and maggots skimmers, roach, and tench being caught if you like the lead then straight lead small methods fished just off the island all working well..give it a go

Lordy's at the Sedges again!
Lordy took a trip down to The Sedges Bridgwater on Sunday 31st January to take part in Ron Starc's silver fish league. The previous Sunday he'd been at the first match and managed 5lb 11oz from peg 25 - an area that he just cannot seem to avoid at the moment. He came third in his section.
The second match promised to be different in that a strong wind was creating waves across the lake rather than from side to side. Lordy drew peg 38 and found the wind nicely in his face! He set up a deep waggler rig, a maggot feeder and the pole at 11m and started on the waggler before the wind became too fierce. This produced nothing. A short session at 11m produced two tiny roach so he opted to put the maggot feeder out beyond the pole line. His first fish on this was a very nice perch of about 2lb followed by a skimmer. His third fish was a carp of about 10lb which went straight back!
As the match progressed he alternated between waggler (loads of small roach) and maggot feeder which produced another skimmer, a carp (put back) and a decent bream of about 2lb, all on maggot. He did have a skimmer at 5m on the meat but this was the only bite on that line.
He finished the match with 6lb 7oz and surprisingly won his section. His next venture in the league is on Valentines day.

Windmill sunday open Jan 31st
Made my way down to Windmill on Sunday to fish the open match 20 plus had booked in which is great for this time of year.
After talking to some old faces which was nice it was time to draw, peg one came out just on the outside of the bowl which was ok, the wind was just off my back but squally so fishing long pole was going to be hard I started at 13 meters loose feeding 6mm pellets with a catapult and had another line off to my left at 13 meters which I fed using a cup to keep things tight with pellets and corn.
The reason for feeding the main line with a catapult was to try and draw the carp away from the open water plus the other two people in the bowl 29 and 31 both chucked the lead so I felt I could draw some fish. I also had a groundbait line at 4 meters in 6 feet of water in the hope to catch some silvers.
The match commenced and wind got stronger I persisted on the pole and had no bites but kept feeding little and often with pellets then had a big skimmer. on the silver line I started to catch small skimmers and odd roach but it was the carp I was after.
The wind dropped slightly so I put the 14 meter section on and no bites then the 16 meter section and down went the float only to loose a carp long story short the carp were right off the feed and the wind made it impossible to present the bait how I wanted to.
In the end I had three carp on the 13 meter line when the carp showed up but to late in the match im sure I could of had more if I could of fished long for longer .....41 lb won the match on lead tactics and 11lb the silvers I may have caught on the lead but was cut off by peg 31.
Well done to Terry Bolton for a great day well see you next week...
